Asus Zenfone Pegasus 3 review
Zenfone, the proud smartphone series by Asus, welcomes another member to the family. The Asus Zenfone Pegasus 3.
The phone supposedly adds to the line of mega battery power saving devices, without compromising a lot of performance in return. How does it stack up against the present competition? Let's find out in this Zenfone Pegasus 3 review.
Design: You know the story! The zenfone Pegasus 3 is made of aluminum (probably 6000-series) and is available in gold, rose-gold and silver color variants. The phone is 8.55mm thick and around 158gm in heft. No complaints in this department. Pegasus 3 is exceptionally well built with clicky tactile buttons, providing a very good feel in the hand.
Display: The phone has a 5.2' 720p IPS LCD panel with 267ppi and 2.5D curved glass screen. Nothing too exciting here. The screen gets bright, but not bright enough for legibility under direct sunlight. The colors are fine and viewing angles are great, but bright colors such as red or yellow, often look under-saturated. It's not a deal breaker and I'm sure it can be fixed with an sRGB display mode correction via a software update😊✌.
Performance: The phone runs on a Mediatek MT6737 quad core chip clocked at 1.3GHz with a Mali MP-T720 MP2 GPU and 2GB/3GB of DDR3 RAM. Chipset may seem a bit dated but performance is totally acceptable for day to day tasks. The phone would run smoothly with minimal-to-no lag on their UI, called ZenUI running in top of Android marshmallow 6.0.1. There are 2 storage variants with the RAM, 16GB/32GB respectively, expandable upto 256GB via microSD card.
The phone also has a rear mounted fingerprint sensor which is in the exact resting position of your finger. The sensor can recognise your registered finger in pretty much any way, and of pretty fast at unlocking your device too. It only misses when your fingers are moist, as do most fingerprint sensor.
Camera: The rear camera is a 13mp sensor with f/2.2 aperture and front camera is a 5mp sensor. Both cameras produce pretty decent photos. I'm especially delighted with the front camera which, to me, seems better than some other 5mp snappers I've seen recenly. So selfie lovers should enjoy that. The rear camera is pretty OK too as long as you dummy push your luck with the lighting😅. The camera app is also pretty straightforward, and easy to use. I like what Asus have done here. They've come a long way ever since the early Zenfone 2 camera, which wasn't worth boasting about.
Battery: Power users can rejoice with this phone's 4100mAh beefy battery. The phone doesn't seem to support fast charging of any sort, but once it has been juiced up, you're good to go for already 2 days. Stand-by is also excellent with Android marshmallow. Overall a very reliable piece of tech, even in a crowded smartphone market like ours.
Price: Zenfone devices have never broken the bank till date. So this phone is also quite friendly with It's price is 13,500 INR.
If you're someone who takes a few selfies outdoors, does some casual gaming and uses your phone for watching a lot of movies and stuff. This phone is one of my top recommendations for you to add to your considerations list😃👍.
