Google's New smartphones!!
Google has dropped two new phones. They're all the buzz right now, as they'll replace the legendary nexus lineup. I'm talking about the Google pixel and pixel XL smart phones, and these are my first impressions on them.
Design is an interesting realm here. The back is half metal and hals glass. This allows for more radio signals to pass through the device's body and gives you better reception. Genius, if you bask me. Some people don't like the way it looks. That's down to personal preference. I'm totally diggin' it. The color options are weirdly named as "quite black" , "really blue" and " very silver"😆.
Build quality is superb and there's a headphone jack too, just so you know😅.
It has to be the most powerful and snappy phone out there right now, at least spec wise. It is powered by the brand new Snapdragon 821 quad core 2.1 GHz processor along with 4 gigs of RAM and 32/128 GB storage. No expandability here.
The displays are the main distinguishing factor between the pixel and the pixel XL. The pixel has a smaller 5' 1080p display and the XL has a 5.5' 1440p display. Both displays are AMOLED panels and are excellent, as of now.
These phones run in the latest Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box. It brings along some neat features like the Google assistant, nice new animations and of course machine learning via Google now. The assistant app is accessible same way as the now-on-tap was, by long pressing the home button. The on-screen buttons are differently stylised and look kinda cool.
The camera is apparently a big deal on this phone. Both phones have 12 mp rear cameras with f/2.0 apertures. The pixel size is the same large 1.55 um. Same as the Nexus 6p camera, which was amazing. The camera uses new sophisticated image stabilization algorithms so it'll be the best out there, according to Google. We'll see!
The front camera is a good 8 mp digirally stabilized snapper, which is great for them wide angled groupies. We can definitely hold high expectations from these cameras.
Batteries are also different on both phones. The smaller pixel has a 2770 mAh unit and the pixel XL has a larger 3450 mAh battery. Standby will be great, as we've come to expect from stock android phones before this.
I'll definitely do a full review on these two phones, so do check back here in a few days! Right now, all I can say is that HTC has done a great job with this year's Google phones!!
