LEAGOO Shark 1 review:
LEAGOO, heard about these guys? Me neither! But apparently their shark 1 smartphone has the largest battery capacity than all smartphones in the world. It's made out to be a business phone but have they actually managed to deliver their promises? Let's find out on this LEAGOO shark 1 review.
Design: The phone is a large one and has a substantial form factor. It's completely made out of one-piece aluminium and is 8.5mm thick. It's definitely quite hefty in the hand due to It's 240gm weight! One handed use is next to impossible here but that seems to be the common case with smartphones nowadays anyway. Overall the phone does have an exceptional fit and finish. Very satisfied with it.
Display: The phone has a huge 6' 1080p IPS LCD panel at 368 ppi with LTPS technology. It slap had a 2.5D curved gorilla glass 3 protection on it. The display is very bright and colorful, with great viewing angles. The panel seems to be a little bit on the cooler side because the whites appear a bit bluish. But you can't notice anything unless you compare it with another panel, so you'll have a great experience using it everyday. Outdoor visibility is also pretty good, legible even on direct sunlight. The slight curvature of the 2.5D glass makes it that much more enjoyable to view.
Performance: I'm afraid it can't astonish you a lot with horsepower. It runs on Mediatek MT6753 octacore SoC clocked at 1.3GHz and 3GB of DDR3 RAM along with a Mali MP-T720 GPU. There is 16GB of built in storage expandable upto another 64GB via microSD card. The CPU is one of the most stable operators from the house of Mediatek so you won't encounter any hearing it throttling issues. But some hardcore gaming titles like implosion on highest graphics settings did stress out this silicon and the GPU couldn't handle the graphics all too well. But then again, it's not a crazy expensive flagship and it's not meant to be a gaming machine, so we can't totally be judgmental on that factor. It has a 360° rear mounted fingerprint sensor and it is claimed to recognize your finger in 0.39s. Don't know the real world time measure but it's definitely fast and smooth. It works flawlessly everytime. I'm quite impressed with the security extension of it, which can be used to lock apps and specific settings as you wish. Most phones don't allow third party applications to use the bio-metric sensor. It's nice that LEAGOO have decided to stay open minded.
The offing runs on a cousin up called LEAGOO OS 1.2 on top of Android 5.1 lollipop. The UI is very nice to look at with lots of themes and customization options at your fingertips. There is an assistive touch which helps you use the huge screen with a single hand to a certain extent, there's built in universal remote that uses the IR blaster, and there are floating gestures too! It's completely packed to give you a non-stock Android but a unique and definitely enjoyable experience.
Camera: The rear camera is a 13mp Sony sensor with f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash. The front camera is a 5mp sensor, also equipped with as mild flash. The camera takes bright and crisp photos with plenty of details in them. But there seems to be a lack of OIS, which results on a bit shaky and jittery video footage. Rest all are fine, the exposure is good and dynamic range is well balanced. Even the front camera takes good looking wide-angled selfies, and the flash helps in darker scenes to get that night-out moment captured! A very good set of cameras indeed.
Battery: This is the sweet spot! The phone packs the largest cell I've ever seen on a smartphone. It packs a 6300 mAh battery! It's also equipped with a fast charger rated at 3 amps, so basically half an hour of charge will get you nearly all-day battery life! Now that's amazing considering it's capacity. So yeah, if you're above 85% here, forget about your charger for the next three days!
Price: This is another treat. The phone retails for just 13,490 INR. An amazing looking phone with great battery life, good performer and a good camera, absolutely worth taking a look at for the budget.
