Google suspends project Ara!
In case you didn't know, Google's project Ara was a plan to build a complete modular phone that would allow users to slide out and replace any hardware part, like the CPU, Camera, speakers and so on. The idea was to make a phone, that can recieve 'hardware' upgrades along woth software OTA updates. Sounds great, but it's another science experiment that failed!
I actually had very high hopes for it. Google showcased several partially working prototypes last year, and promised to shipnout developer units this June. But as we all know, it never happened and turns out, it wasn't just a delay. It would've been awesome to own a phone that'll never get outdated because of fixed hardware. Screen cracked? Slide it out and replace with a new one within seconds!!
But I suppose that level of technology is too early to expect now. I mean, once you buy a google Ara phone, there will be no need to upgrade to another phone at all, not even the Ara 2!! That would probably kill most smartphone manufacturers and I guess the world and google's own engineers aren't ready for such a drastic tech revolution just yet!
