ZTE Blade A515 review!
ZTE has a low end budget series of good looking phones called Blade series. This is a curious look into the ZTE blade A515.
Design: This ZTE offering has a unique design. Western all other phones look the same with rounded corners and flat edges, the blade has a uniquely flat finished top. It reminds me a lot of the earlier flagships of 2010, where that design was popular and I liked it. I still like it on the blade. It's made out of a combo of some polycarbonate materials and of course plastic, coming in at 7.8 mm in thickness and a very light 128gm weight. Insurable to hold and easy in the hands, though not very premium as per the trend. The volume and power buttons are on the right side. There are 2 color options, black and blue.
Display: The phone has a 5' 720p IPS LCD panel with 294 ppi. Display is nice and surprisingly bright, with good viewing angles and decent contrast ratio. Overall not a bad display for the price. Colors are on the cooler side as usual from most IPS LCD panels, but pleasant to view anyway.
Performance: The phone is powered by a Mediatek MT6753P quad core processor clocked at 1.1GHz and a Mali MP-T720 MP2 GPU with 1GB DDR3 RAM. Sure the RAM size isn't great but at least the class is DDR3. It has 8GB onboard storage expandable upto 32GB via microSD card.
The phone runs on Android 5.1 lollipop and UI is mostly stock. It's name is MiFavor UI! Weird name but it works! It's pretty smooth and stable. There were a few jitters here and there but that's forgivable as it didn't bother the running process. Specs aren't everything as you might've experienced, is the UI optimizations that make all the difference in real world usage.
Camera: the rear camera is a 13 mp sensor with led flash capable of recording up to 720p video at 30fps. The front camera is a 5 mp standard CMOS sensor. Both cameras are average at best. Photos have pretty washed out look to them and exposure is not the best. The photos tend to get grainy as the lighting falls. The front camera is also just good enough for a casual selfie or two. Nothing worth bragging about in the optics department.
Battery: The phone has a pretty underrated 2200 mAh battery. The standby time is actually decent and the usage will get you through a day with moderate use. There is no quickcharge buy you sunny feel the absence in such a small unit anyway.
Price: This is an uncertain part. Price is not yet been announced. As soon as there is word from ZTE, I'll update this post. But assuming the previous phones were very budget friendly, my guess is it will retail for about 4500-5500 INR at the most. I'll put my verdict on the value for money after the official price is known. So stay tuned and thanks for reading😅👍.
